Puppy Training
Puppies can be trained and should be taught good manners from just a couple of days after bringing your puppy home. So why wait until they're old enough (due to vaccine requirements) to attend training classes by which time they may have already learned bad habits and inappropriate behaviour. The best place to start any training with any puppy is in the home, therefore I come to you.
Not only will you acquire good training techniques but also an understanding of how they work and why other techniques may not. You will also gain an insight into how your dog learns and thinks which will then help you identify why your dog behaves in a certain manner under certain circumstances. This will then help you to adapt training methods to particular situations. Also by taking breed and instincts into account will help you determine whether your puppy's behaviour should be stopped, controlled, channelled or re-directed.
There is no rigid structure to training sessions although commands are often best taught in a particular order. Each owner is also likely to have different views on what is acceptable behaviour and different training needs for their dog therefore sessions will be flexible enough to accommodate the owner's requests.
All training techniques, once demonstrated and then practised by you, will be accompanied by a step-by-step guide for you to refer to as required.
Before training can begin it is a requirement that your puppy has had their initial check-up at the vets and that the vet has no concerns over your puppy's health. Depending on the age of the puppy and the requests made by the owner, the dog's training requirements may need to be addressed as a canine behaviour case. This will be advised and agreed with you before any sessions begin. Please therefore see under Canine Behaviour and Training.
